Is that You Jesus?

The bible is more than a book of stories or dates or genealogies.  There are too many translations available to say that it is a book of thees, thys, and thous that is too difficult to understand.  It is more than rules and regulations.  The Bible is a love story.  From the book of Genesis to the book of Revelation it is a beautiful picture of God’s desire to have a relationship with His creation. Before anything was created, He already had a plan that would allow Him, a Holy God, to have a relationship with fallen man.  That plan was Jesus.  The Old Testament is woven with a rich scarlet thread of redemption and salvation. Each story, when you carefully peel back the layers, reveals a type of Jesus Christ.  Finding Him in each story is not always easy. Sometimes He is revealed in the most unlikely place. Sometimes His character is revealed by more than one person in the story.  But as you begin to search for Him, you will find Him.

Jeremiah 29:13 You will seek Me and find Me when you seek me with all your heart.

If we look closely, we will also find ourselves, our own hearts, revealed. Sometimes in the saint, or sometimes in the sinner. Quite often, if we are completely truthful, we will recognize ourselves in the voices of the underappreciated, overlooked, and the overworked. The voice that cries out why Lord? Why? It’s not fair!  The grumblers and the complainers. We may catch a glimpse of ourselves in David the worshipper or possibly in the jealous heart of a King named Saul. We may see ourselves in Jonah as he ran from God, or in David as he ran toward his Goliath.

However you may see yourself, and however you may see Jesus, the most important thing is that you ultimately find yourself in Him. Reconciled for all eternity. Truly, a part of the greatest love story ever written!
